PURPOSE

A ZZT Essay by WiL of MGG

Researched and created over the course of 16 months, a strangely angled dive into the nature of creativity, community, and how it relates specifically to the ZZT hobby. Somewhat playable. If you get stuck on the puzzles, feel free to leave a comment below and I'll say the solutions. They aren't too hard though.

The scene transitions, wrapped-text layouts and the little forms of emphasis, all tickle a particular part of me. the desire to be a little guy waddling around an impassioned manifesto

Weird you wrote this about me WiL :/

I'm not going to say that it's entirely about you. But if you can guess which part is about you specifically I will pay pal you enough money fo a local cookie

After playing (reading?) it, I wonder if this is your "I Don't Know James Rolfe" moment.

Oh nooo

Am I Dan Olsen in this scenario... or am I James? 😭

The former? In the sense that part of your essay's motivation came from looking back on your work and the communities you've been part of.

TBH it could just as easily be "here is the self-proclaimed magnum opus of an uncurious jerk perpetually stuck in his teen years" 🤣
