Galactic Foodtruck Simulator 2999 (GFS2999)
GALACTIC FOODTRUCK SIMULATOR 2999
The year is 2999. The galaxy hungers. You heard their cries and you bought the foodtruck. Now you have 40 weeks to establish a thriving mobile restaurant business and begin paying back your creditors, or have your mind erased by the dreaded Repos.
Along the way you will meet the many and varied citizens of year 2999, including terrorist frogs, time travelers, fad dieters, intergalactic jetsetters, gravy fiends, judgmental rats, honest robots, and plants that have developed into some evolutionarily questionable shapes.
With deterministic but highly branching gameplay, no two playthroughs will ever be exactly alike - what will your epic journey through the year 2999 look like? Will you decode the mysteries of the three-armed bandit? Will you feed the galactic citizenry and manage to pay off your debts? Or will the Repos have their due? Discover this and more in GALACTIC FOODTRUCK SIMULATOR 2999!

I have to pay all of the money I made in 23 weeks plus some of my food for PARTS. And I can't just refuse. Fuck this rubbish game.
Show post...
What kind of parts cost $2455? I can just stay on one planet with the thrusters broken, but there isn't even THAT option. so literally I just wasted three hours of my life.
To the maker of this game: Fuck you.
Did you tip the mechanic at least?
does anyone know how the three armed bandit works?
Nothing in the game is hidden or locked. The OBJ code for the three-armed bandit is in the following locations:
Additionally, some onboard objects are present that handle various aspects of the bandit's function. These are all on the three-armed bandit board, titled "%Story% Week 9":
Final notes:
There is some cheeky code in GFSOBJ\HANDLE.OBJ that is probably the code you're looking for. It's the critical code determining the value of the number in the top right of the bandit, and whether the reels stop. Local5 and Local7 are the primary variables involved.
the real joy of itch is the hope that someday i might stumble upon an account that has been making idiosyncratic games for years ✨ found this hugely inspiring, you’ve got a lifelong fan
More people need to know about this game! It’s awesome! I am 100% invested in my space foodtruck business. It feels like running an actual food truck… in space.
Great animations, transitions, gameplay loop, music, humor, and artwork! Really nice job! The only downside is that there is no easy way to keep building on the current game due to ZZT limitations. I needs moreeeee!!!!
This game was an amazing experience. When I saw the trailer I just knew I had to play it. Very entertaining and fun. I’ll be linking my gameplay in case if anyway is curious as to what the actual gameplay looks like. :)
Ha! This was a great watch, it was wild to see which jokes/references we were on the same wavelength for. Glad you enjoyed it and I hope you do more like this. Subscribed to your channel. (Also, you can hit SPACE to skip to the end of a service if you want)
Browsing your profile on here has been kinda mind-blowing. I've been around long enough to remember the good ol' days of dos gaming and ZZT, and I'd always equated ZZT games to things like SuperZZT and Kroz. To see this stuff you're producing is just bonkers and I love it. I had no idea ZZT was capable of making *ahem* fun and unique games.
Galactic Foodtruck Simulator tickles my nostalgic love of ANSI art and BBS doors perfectly. There's so much charm in the characters and events you encounter along the way. I'm hooked and can't wait for this workday to be over so I can get back home and grind out more of it and maybe even get called a "bich" by more no good voidrats 🤣
Thanks for your kind comments! To note: much of what I'm doing now wasn't possible 25 years ago or even 5 years ago with ZZT. It's only because of the rediscovery and reconstruction of the source code, and the Weave 3 modding tool (https://meangirls.itch.io/weave-3) that these games are possible in their current format. (A downscaled version of them is almost certainly still possible in vanilla ZZT, but would have taken many more months and the end result been less interesting IMO)
I've lost and started a new game, then I appeard as a fugitive on the first day, somone knows why??
With the upgrade to 1.8.13, you should be able to start a new game.
Played through ti a few times. Very clever, but the paths didn't branch very much. Many times you're given a false sense of choice only to be forced to end up taking the path the game wants you to take. It seems like there should be multiple endings. Maybe a way for you to actually pay off your loans. Not entirely sure what upgrading the kitchen did. Not really sure how advertising helped either. I started paying hundreds and hundred of dollars for advertising expecting more customers, but it didn't seem to have much of an impact. Planets don't seem to pay a premium for the items they want. They'll generally just go with whatever is cheapest, so setting prices seemed sort of useless. In the post game I started getting to planets that wouldn't buy anything, but I didn't know why. I tried not working any weekends until I had plenty of supplies, but then I was already dangerously exhausted. Wasn't sure what crew moral did or how it changed from week to week.
It's a good sign when folks play and wish there was even more game - branching paths, multiple endings, pickier customers with more complex habits. I agree, I think this one could go bigger and offer dedicated players more challenge and opportunity. A small update coming at the end of the month addresses a couple ambiguities you mentioned, but rescoping the game for more content isn't possible; ZZT is already bursting at the seams holding the current game. Still it's very cool to think about. Whatever I end up making next, I'll try to leave myself some room at the end to add more content later. (Or pick an engine that can handle more than 63.5kb at the same time lol)
I'm so surprised I found this 12 days after publish?? I just spent 3-4 hours playing this game and I'm in love, I only wish it were longer somehow!
does anyone know how the three armed bandit works?
no
I think I found a bug? I have two passengers in my fridge at the beginning of a new save file on my fifth play through, but it might have been a blessing of the void
You've been blessed! There's an extremely small chance that Flora and Brassica will persist through playthroughs and show up at the beginning of a future game.
How you doin chat? Can you beat this score?
New best. Week 68. I think with perfect play you can squeeze out one more week (nice!)
This game has fried mushrooms in it. 6 stars out of 5, would mush again.
2023 Game of the Year
My final score was 5,939 - I think that's good?
I never figured out what the deal is with Gravyman. Perhaps we're not meant to know. Perhaps ... perhaps we're safer if we don't know.
It's fun, but after you become a fugitive it's not really clear what the planets want :(
Food!
The devotion here is off the charts. Go forth and own the niche.
